Experiencing the “4 Great Days” carnival in Bayreuth from March 1 to 4, 2025, was an exhilarating dive into a vibrant tapestry of German culture. As I stepped into the city square, the air buzzed with anticipation, and the sight of colorful decorations instantly lifted my spirits.
The history of this carnival, known locally as “Fasching,” dates back centuries and is deeply rooted in German traditions. Originally a time to indulge before the Lenten season, Fasching has evolved into a celebration of joy and community.
